What has the Lord called you to do? What purpose, not made of human hands, has He birthed in your Spirit? What has He whispered to you to create and bring forth? Argue not, just let Him flow. Block it not, just let the rivers of living water of His Holy Spirit flow freely from you.
I had almost lost my step, I did not see the way. I reasoned, “Lord, what good is posting words on a blog? I’m not a pastor, I’m not an leader in any church, I am nothing, less than the least. My failures and weaknesses are ever before me, who am I to bring forth Your inspired words of wisdom, what could I ever offer of value to the body of believers in Christ?” Oh love, these were the raging thoughts and heart torrents I have wrestled with over the past months. For a hard season, I would busy myself so I wouldn’t have to sit down and attempt to write. I found other matters to attend to instead of seeking His face, for I wrestled with whether I had anything of value to bring forth and share. I silently debated whether God could even use me. The limited perspectives of man and attacks from the enemy caused me to doubt the gift God had put into Me. Alas, I finally accepted that He writes through me. This is all I needed to know as I deliver what He inspires me to create with each prompting of His beloved Holy Spirit. No matter what mankind may say or not say, mine is to let Him flow through me unhindered as He desires.
Never let the response of man hold you back when the Lord has called you to a attend to His matters. Never let man say you are not good enough, you are not educated enough, you do not have this or that gifting, let the Lord lead and see what He will bring forth through you. If it is to write, then keep writing even if no one publishes you. If it is to speak, then continue to speak forth as He gives utterance. If it is to serve in common or unusual ways, then do every task joyfully as unto Him. Whatever you do work at it with all of your heart flowing mightily in the gifts and calling of the Holy Spirit.
Unstop the wells and let Him flow, for we do not know what word we deliver, what action we take, what product we create will bring others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We do not know how we delight His heart when He is allowed our lives to do with as He pleases – even the smallest effort/action prompted by the Holy Spirit will can have effects beyond our imagining. Take the video linked below for example. I listened to it with a heart of stone but the Holy Spirit did a work in my heart and melted it like wax. I have been a fan of Andrew Hamby’s music for some time and I visited his YouTube channel this morning. I saw the Oceans song and thought, “I’ll give it a listen for it will no doubt be really good, but I know it won’t inspire anything in me as I feel so dead inside.” Oh beloved reader, before the song was over, the writing above came flowing out after I was brought through a place of deep worship and release of much anguish of heart.
The Lord restored my soul even with the sound of this video. The cellist was willing to offer his gifted touch on his instrument and worship the Lord in spirit and truth before all the world, and it even touched the least in the body of Christ to inspire a post. From here we will see just what the Lord will do, for are we not all called to build one another up? How exciting to walk and flow in His Spirit together.
Even days ago, in a dry and weary land, I posed this question to the Lord with heart weary and body aching: “What have Thee for me, oh Lord?” Below is His reply. Let us all pour forth what He has put in us so that all may know Him:
Will I not take care of thee? Will I not provide a way out of no way, will I not make another way, unexpected. I have made you to create, love, lavish, and show forth My glory. I have made thee to visit with Me throughout the day and enjoy My presence. I have made you to love the least of these in all creation. You think you must work do this or that thing that has been a burden on your heart, but My love I have orchestrated a better way, a way that lifts the burden from your shoulders and release your hands form the basket.
I love your gifting, how it delights Me. How I delight to spend time with you. Do not fret about money, do not believe it is your role to provide, for it is Mine. I will provide abundantly for you. Work for Me, My love, work for Me. Fret not about others, for they are mine. Just offer your heart and spur others to good works, do not fret about that which I have not given you.
How gentle My love is toward you. How empty you have been for a long season. My love, I refresh you, I provide ways and means that you did not expect. I restore that which has been stolen with no hope of return. My hand intervening does not bring side effects, but fruit. Skip, dance, frolic before Me for this is how I made you. Your work ethic I created to create that which is not, to bring wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to My creation in new ways. I have made you to create, My love.
“Why do I not feel like I fit?” My love I answer this question from your heart and the hearts of My beloveds – it is because you have not been operating how I made you. You will fit in any situation and group of people, but you will feel a “misfit” when you are not operating in what I’ve made you to do it is as an emptiness of purpose. Many of my beloveds do not fully know how to operate in their gifts and call. When they understand, then how purposeful will their walks be, how satisfied will their mouths be as with honey, and how mighty their arms will be for their tasks. The work will seem not as work but as delight in their operations.
As the Lord leads us on to adventure with Him, where feet may fail, let us keep our eyes fixed upon the Author and Finisher of our faith – Jesus Christ. I share it with you for how amazing the sound of this instrument played with God’s anointing! Oh the sound of the cello is the soul’s outcry to God.
Psalm 107: 1-43
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story – those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains, because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the plans of the Most High. So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.
Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.
Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. They saw the works of the his wonderful deeds in the deep. For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits’ end.
Then they cried out to the in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders.
He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground, and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there. He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish. Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled by oppression, calamity and sorrow; he who pours contempt on nobles made them wander in a trackless waste. But he lifted the needy out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks. The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths. Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.”
