Could the Lord be leading me into something completely different? Why am I so hesitant to let go of what I know and am comfortable with? Why have lingered in this same place, even though I know He would have me move to the next. Father, help me follow where You Lead.
We often don’t see the next step until we let go of what we hold tightly.
The Lord deals with each of us uniquely, yet He consistently leads us with His peace. Here are some questions to consider
- Is He ruffling the nest so that I no longer experience the satisfaction and enjoyment I once did?
- Do I walk about knowing what the Lord would have me do, but not voicing it?
- Is He bidding me to make a change and let go of something I’ve outgrown?
When the Lord is leading us to Come Walk with Him, it is sometimes in stages. We may experience a season where we know we are exactly where and doing what the Lord would have us do? Then, the season comes to an end and He leads us onto the next. Yes, many of us want to stay put where we are. Maybe we were really good at doing something and He desires to expand us beyond our level of comfort.
There is a time to stay the course and there is a time to move on as the Lord leads. When the Lord moves us, let us let go and follow Him by faith. Are we living for ourselves or for Him? Obedience to the Father is always the best way, we looking at our lives through an eternal lens.
Take the rope illustration by Francis Chan. When we let go of our lives and fully let God lead, it is not just an adventure of our lifetime, it is an adventure throughout eternity.
