The heart of God is to bless His people. He has come to give us life and give it abundantly. The hymn below details the desire of our heavenly Father and our role to expect and receive all from His hands. He is our limitless supply for all that we need. He engages us to bless us, not to curse or condemn us. For all those who are in Christ Jesus has escaped the curse and is a new creation. Let us pray that God would broaden our understanding of what we have in Christ. That we can operate fully in His desires for us so that others can come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Come to Me and I will give you rest. Take your cares to Me, commune with Me, prayer is our dialogue. Pray without ceasing – always be open to Me. Releasing your cares to Me and receiving My impartation. Your longing is to be filled with Me. Get to know My voice, for I very much want to speak to all My children and guide them in the way they should go.
When you walk without prayer it is like being married without intimacy – there is a shell of a covenant, but no connection, no power, no assurance. Prayer connects us, worship delights Me. Your strength and ability you obtain from Me, I want to be all to you. Do not limit what this means, come and let us reason together and I will show you great and mighty things I want to do through you and in you.
Get excited My love, for I rejoice over you and all that I want to pour out. Prayer is your conduit of giving your burdens and petitions for yourself and others to Me and receiving My blessings. At times you will speak words, at other times you may only groan, but these acts of the heart I receive. Your prayers are as a sweet and savory fragrance to Me. Pour out, pour out to Me through prayer.
- “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18
- “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:17-18
- “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26
- “My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:2-3
Hymn – Sweet Hour of Prayer
William W. Walford – 1845
Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, thy bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight.
This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise
To seize the everlasting prize,
And shout, while passing through the air,
“Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!”
