Purpose of Prayer

The Bible instructs us that God’s will for us in Christ Jesus is to rejoice always, pray continually, and to give thanks in all circumstances (I Thessalonians 5:16-18). We are to devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful (Colossians 4:2), for if we call on God and pray to Him, He will listen (Jeremiah 29:12). Let us not become weary in seeking God and offering prayers and thanksgivings unto Him, for this act of faith is not in vain. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth (Psalm 145:18). Let us continue in our walk with the Lord, being joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12).
