What is the purpose of celebrating Easter for those who believe in Jesus? Why do we focus on and sing about His blood? What does the crucifixion mean? Why did he have to die for us? Why does it matter that he was raised from the dead? These are great questions!
Many may wonder why we take this time each year to focus on the crucifixion of Jesus and His precious blood, His sacrifice for our sins, and His resurrection from the dead. Explore these questions of eternal significance by watching the sermons from Charles Stanley, singing the hymn, and reading the scriptures to learn more about the life changing message on these topics!
Understanding the Blood, Death and Resurrection of Jesus
Hymn
O the Blood of Jesus
(1915 by C. M. Alexander)
1 Oh, the blood of Jesus,
Oh, the blood of Jesus,
Oh, the blood of Jesus,
it cleanses white as snow.
2 Oh, the word of Jesus,
Oh, the word of Jesus,
Oh, the word of Jesus,
that cleanses me from sin.
3 Oh, the blood of Jesus,
Oh, the blood of Jesus,
Oh, the blood of Jesus,
it will never lose it power.

Add your own last statement to the stanza in praise to Him who died for you, that is you believe in Him you might live with God for eternity.
Isaiah 1:18-20
Come now, let us argue it out, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be like snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become white like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Romans 5:1-11
Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us. Much more surely then, now that we have been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. But more than that, we even boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Hebrews 9:11-22
But when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation), he entered once for all into the Holy Place, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, with the sprinkling of the ashes of a heifer, sanctifies those who have been defiled so that their flesh is purified, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to worship the living God!
For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, because a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant. Where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. Hence not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood. For when every commandment had been told to all the people by Moses in accordance with the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the scroll itself and all the people, saying, “This is the blood of the covenant that God has ordained for you.” And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship.
Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
